Volunteering
Why join our club?
BECAUSE YOU CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE — and have a lot of fun!
Become a new member — or renew and bring a friend! You’ll be part of a dynamic and caring group, helping us to advance the mission of the Garden Club of Windham.
What is our mission? Garden Club members are eager to share our love and knowledge of gardening with others in our community — and learn from them, too. In addition to taking pride in our own gardens, we’ve undertaken beautification projects, cultivated public gardens, and planted hundreds of trees and shrubs in cooperation with the Town of Windham.
Dahlia says “Join us!”
The Garden Club is dedicated to the enhancement of the Town of Windham and City of Willimantic. We partner with Town government as well as local local and regional groups in activities that create inviting public spaces that can be used for a wide array of community activities — educational, artistic, and cultural.
We encourage an appreciation of ecology and the unique qualities of our local environment. We want to foster respect for the environment and work toward understanding and protecting the indigenous “web of life”: the native plants, insects, birds, amphibians, fish, and mammals that share the urban, suburban, and rural corners of northeastern Connecticut. Creating wildlife habitat and pollinator pathways are among our most popular projects.
In all these undertakings, we celebrate our tireless volunteers, ranging from retirees and local youth to students from Eastern Connecticut State University and the University of Connecticut. Without the efforts of these generous people, the work of the Garden Club of Windham could not go forward.
Please renew your membership now, or become a new member, and get involved in one of our community gardens, our wildlife and pollinator projects, or the revitalizing of the Garden on the Bridge. Your ideas and energy are essential, and serving as an officer or member of a committee is an even bigger contribution.
Help us grow our mission and support our work by inviting others to join us.
Talk to your neighbors & friends. Tell them about the work of the Garden Club and Invite them to help preserve & protect what makes Windham/Willimantic a special place to live.
